Concours d’art oratoire as an In-Class Activity for Grades 4-12 with new Impromptu Resources!
Engage your students in the Concours d’art oratoire as a year-round class activity! This great opportunity allows your students to exercise their spontaneous oral production skills. CPF Ontario will provide you with the resources to enjoy this activity with your students (Grades 4-12). You can choose to participate in the Traditional Division and/or the Impromptu Division. We will send you participation certificates for each of your students and medals for the top 3 winners in your class.
This is also a great opportunity to prepare Grades 9-12 students for our Traditional and Impromptu Concours d’art oratoire, held in-person at Glendon Campus, York University on May 3rd, 2025 where students can win scholarships and prizes at the provincial and national levels!

2024-2025 In-Class Activity – Impromptu Division of Concours d’art oratoire
The Impromptu Division of Concours d’art oratoire is an amazing pedagogical tool to consolidate and enhance the level of French-speaking of your students. It is an action-oriented approach, with spontaneous discussions and authentic tasks. Impromptu allows your students to exercise their spontaneous oral production skills. It takes some courage to speak on the stop and it will be beneficial to gain confidence and raise your student’s linguistic security. Have the entire class participate and congratulate them!
We would love to post your students’ photos on our social media to recognize their accomplishments; send them to sfilippi@on.cpf.ca in JPEG.

We are excited to share our brand-new resources for the Impromptu Division: photos, videos and cube lesson plans!
This summer, we updated all the photos – they are engaging and connected to different subjects to stimulate your students’ imagination and their view of the world.
We also created some new questions in the cubes that will allow your students to start the process of speaking about themselves or a subject that is meaningful to them. The format of the lesson plans has been updated, which includes links to various inspirational videos.
We hope all the new material will stimulate and inspire your students in the path of public speaking. You could also use these resources for any of your Grade 12 students who need to practice their oral production skills for an exam. (back to top)
